|
|
I was curious if any of you use a handheld gps to navigate in the bays and if you would recommend it as a comparable replacement to a larger permanent mount type. My boat has an incredible fish finder on it but no gps. Most of the perm mount types are combo gps/fish finders so that is why I was considering a handheld.
I would like to find one that does have maps which could help show some of the bay features, not just one that shows your coordinates/direction.
Also, would you recommend using a handheld if you were to run offshore - 10 to 15 miles max?
Many thanks. |

Garmin, period! I'm not the manual reading type and my Garmin was easy to figure out and put to GOOD use. When WAAS enabled, it has 10' (sometimes better) accuracy in the open. _________________ Dave

| I just got a Garmin etrex /venture HC from Cabela's. Usually $200 for $120. My son has one like it and says it's great. Can be hooked up to computer and maps can be downloaded onto it. Comes with sb cable, cd, bike clip and downloaded with mapsource cartography |

I appreciate the info. I checked out the Oregon 400C and that looks like the best to me as well.
Thanks again. |
