We couldn't believe our eyes !! Mad Mad Not just three but SIX finned sharks, all in the same shape as these in the pics. Two still had the hooks in it's mouth. Sharks were at the 56mm and in the 5-6ft range. Some looked like Thrashers (just guessing). Called Capt. Billy and he said he would notify the proper authorities. He also said they probably came from longliners out of Mexico. Sad Sad Also reported a dolphin at the 35mm. Carolyn & Dennis

Dennis,
Could you call Elaine here at the Caller-Times newsroom. She's working on a story about the finned sharks and I want to make sure readers don't automatically assume this was done by surf fishermen.
Her number is (361) 886-3794

Thanks

I would like to HOPE its not a mexican boat and not an american boat... Rolling Eyes ...

First, red-listed hammers traced back to the gulf of mexico show up in japanese markets, and now finned sharks wash up on the beach. Goes to show you, as long as there is a demand for it this type of thing, there will always be people to supply it.

Just a bunch of folklore! Those don't do anything for you medicinally! That's just plane wrong on every level to do that to sharks! Alot of the Asian countries do that! Why Mexico?! I guess there is a market for fins there too.

While some places serve "shark fin soup" in Mexico, most of the fins are exported to Asian countries where it is used for "medicinal" purposes.
