Hey if your thinking of buying firecrackers and trying to make it back into city limits.
Heads up. They are at the 4 way stop by the city dump. I wouldn't doubt it that they have a spotter by the fireworks stand. I picked up my fireworks and dropped them off at my grandmas in Chapman ranch. Im not for breaking the law but I'd hate for anyone to get a ticket.
Happy New Year. I am out.
tickets for bringing in fireworks in city limits.

I ran a fireworks stand out Weber, west of the Oso back in '84. The fire marshalls would sit in their car in the ditch at the stand; talk to customers as they approached or left the stand, telling them what would happen if they took their fireworks back to town; they would park in town, across the Oso, and watch cars as they came out of town. If they stopped at the fireworks stand, then they got stopped going back into town. We warned everyone to be 'smart'. People, LOTS OF PEOPLE, drove right back into the teeth of the monster! Shocked Rolling Eyes Laughing Laughing Laughing

We were kinda PO'd the first week we had the stand opened. By the Fourth, we were placing bets, and laughing our butts off when we saw the "lights" go on across the Oso. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Yes they have spotters. I think the fine is like $2000/pack. Just isn't worth it.

They said last night on the news they would take license plate numbers at every stand and have check points at every entry into corpus, and the fine is $2k per pack.

Sounds pretty stupid, and typical too me: Wasting time and money writing easy tickets instead of doing the hard stuff like fighting REAL crime! Evil or Very Mad

Its the home-made fireworks I heard last night that really concern me. Nothing a block away should produce such a thud that it shakes the ground.

I'm not saying that people should have fireworks in the city limits, only that the cops could be spending their timing and the tax payers money more wisely. Wink

Well nothing in the paper today about a home burning down so whatever they spent to enforce the law. well worth it. Its only twice a year they are on high alert. and pretty sure they can multi task!

They have been doing this for years, CC is known as one of the least firework friendly cities in the state. It's all for good reason, to protect everyone and their property.

If you have to ask about my "point being" then there's no use boring you with the point!

On the other, CC is the seat of Nueces county. If you good folks really care that deeply about the issue then it seems as though you would start a movement to make the county fireworks free, not just the city. Then the CC cops could do what they're supposed to do instead of giving out easy tickets: things like cracking down on home and vehicle break ins and meth labs/dealers/users, etc. From what I read on this forum which doesn't even cover a fraction of a percent of those specific crimes being committed in the CC area, THAT would be time and tax money well spent! Cool
