Watch your boats and equipment on them. There was another motor stolen off a customers boat that was stored inside his garage(detached). This happened in Aransas Pass. The motor was en evinrude E-tech 60hp with controls. GOOD people beware of the A-holes that don't want to make an honest living.

So, how do these engines get passed off? All outboards in Texas have to have titles... but I guess if your integrity is lacking there's no problem not asking where someone got the motor they're unloading on you.

Individual parts?

That's the way the thieves do with motorcycles... the combined value of indvidual parts dwarfs the value of the assembled machine.

It's a shame that these low-lifes get off with a slap on the wrist, if even that.

This must have taken some time to de-rig the boat, it must have made some noise, even a 60 hp has some weight so there must of have been at least two people.

Nobody saw or heard a thing? Shocked

I'd check my neighbors!

somebody's got balls, these days with the castle doctrine a thief could get himself killed over just about anything.

But then! It coulda been an inside job Wink

amazing what one can do with a little knowledge and a good set of bolt cutters. As far as the title thing. In my hole life of boating I have never been asked to see a motor title. Someone was watching that motor.
Most motors the cables and such are cut zip zap. 4 bolts which are usually stainless and come off real quick because they are not all rusted. Cover your bolt heads and nuts with a good thick coating off sealant so that a socket won't fit over the heads. Most thieves don't have the time to remove the stuff. It works.....

I did something simliar with my stereo in my car back in the 90's. I bolted it in, then tack welded the nuts. Did that for the head unti and the speakers. When the theifs broke in and couldn't get it out, they trashed the radio and speakers, they tbroke up my entire dash, instrument panel, ripped up the seats, pulled off the window rollers, etc. Basically, they trashed my car.

Remember, these guys that make a living stealing other peoples hard earned possessions feel like the world owes them an easy life, and if they cannot easily steal your goods, they get angry and make sure you can't use it anyway.

I put several treble hooks tied to the wire loom behind my cd player and CB and one night caught a kid in my truck (literally!) He didn't really know what he was doing and trashed my dash pretty bad..

But with outboards.. a cordless impact, channel locks and some bolt cutters it would be a piece of cake to pull off. I would weld the mounting bolts/nuts among some other creative deterrents.

Aransas Pass is the theft capital of Texas. You would think that law enforcement could easily find the crooks due to the size of the town. They either know who the crooks are and look the other way, or don't give a damn. It's time they get their act together.

I am going to have to disagree with you on the dogs. I have had big dogs, they just sit and wait for someone to come IN and then go for them. However, in most cases the person or whatever don't walk away. Now small dogs like I have now yap at anything that moves. When they start making noise at night or day I always look and have always seen what it was they were upset about. Lucky for me it has not been anything. Or should I say lucky for them. Mad

Sounds like meth has made its way to Aransas Pas. Best thing to do is start shooting them.

John, thats a terrible story man. I agree, its a mentality that lowlifes have that makes them who they are. Makes me sick.

Big John, I had almost the same thing happen when I was 18 or 19. My amp was bolted to the inside of my glovebox so they ripped out the entire glovebox. My stereo was bolted down in the rear so they jacked up the housing and dash.

Now I'm a cop and have a serious H@^% on for car burglars. When i catch em' I throw the ENTIRE book at em. If there are three persons involved I'll upgrade the charge with Organized Criminal Activity. If found with screwdrivers, gloves, etc I'll tack on the charge of Possession of Criminal Instrument. If I find so much as a gram of weed, guess what...poss. of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, etc. Twisted Evil

Dude, you may be right about some big dogs but not all. My last dog was a half lab half shepherd mixabout 70 pounds] that was unreal smart and had the same amount of braveness. I guarantee you that dog would have KILLED anyone she didn't know coming into the house OR the yard uninvited or died trying!!!! I friend of ours came over to the house once and we weren't home, but Pepper was in the back yard. He said that she made it PLAINLY clear that he was NOT welcome in the driveway, let alone in the yard!!!! Shocked
