TH hit it right on the head again, as usual!!! We started late as I couldn't decide which way to go, take the boat out? or hit the sand?
It was a perfect day either way........ and the call of the wild Pompano won out. Since it was 10:00am when we hit the end of the blacktop I didn't try to go far and we stoped about the 17 to start when we found a real nice point. Had a bull whiteing on the first set and a nice Pomp on the second......... then nothing for the next 45min. or so. That forced a move down to the next likely looking point. This time it was all Pomps, one every 10 to 15 min. it seemed. The first one was a beast and since I had the screamer set on my longbeach it let everyone know when he left at a high rate of speed. You know it's a good'un when they start jumping with 4oz. of lead hanging out their mouth!!! So we wound up with 7 or 8 before my old bad back finaly gave out..... dang I'm gona have to get in shape. That's bad when 18" Pomps wear a man out so fast. Burt it sure was fun!!!!

rutro, I feel for you. Before pomp season was squarely underway last year, my doctor sent me to Alameda Fitness and Rehab for 2 months of therapy for my back - advanced lumbar disc disease and frequent muscle spasms. Worked so well I rewarded the place with pomp filets after my next trip down the beach. Then I had more rehab for a calcified Achilles tendon, so I kept up with the back exercises 2 to 3 times a week, and have only had 3 back sprains in the last year. Increased the exercises to each weekday starting in July, on top of an hour walking at the mall 7 days a week, and besides having had no more sprains managed to lose almost 25 lbs. This morning I took them more pomp filets while working out.

See if you can get a doctor's referral to these guys, and, when you're done with what was prescribed, you can join their wellness program, using all their exercise equipment every weekday, for only 30 bucks a month.

Good health isn't really appreciated until its loss becomes an excuse for not fishing, instead of calling in sick to go fishing. Wink

TH I wish I could go to something like that still. Mine is messed up beyond therapy, I went through all that back in the mid 90's. All was well for a few years until I got ejected from a bass boat traveling at a high rate of speed. Broke all the ribs on my left side and sprained my entire body besides. When that happened I already had 3 levels fused in my lumbar spine, 3 levels fused in my cervical spine and degenerative disc disease everywhere else. Now on top of all that they say I've got stenosis of the cervical spinal canal above the fusion............ and you don't want none of that. But it's better than the alternative, with a little luck I'll stay out of one of those funny looking chairs with the big wheels on 'em.
But serriously, stay after that exersize program as long as you can, it'll save you more pain than you can imagine. My last fussion was the lower back and I didn't think I was ever going to fish again. But the orthapedic surgeon I had took care of the TCU football team up in Ft. Worth. He got me on an exersize program and back on my feet and 6 mo. later I went back to work, with a big 'ol smile on my face. If I'd just stayed out of that bass boat I'd still be at it somewhere....... but I'm just glad the Good Lord decided to keep me around a little longer!!!! There's lots of Pomp and Reds left to be caught still on the good days and plenty of good books for the bad ones!!!
