I have Hogens Boot waders that cracked and let water in - they were not great waders they ran about 50.00. I understand that the breathable waders are the thing now. What kind do yall like?

I hang them up, but there are still creases which lead to the cracks... Care? Question Question

I wear the Hodgemen wadelites and just wear warm clothes underneath them.... Be sure to rinse them well and store them out of the sunlight and you should be ok

The best waders I have found are Simm's. Not cheap but You get what you pay for. Tackle Town in Rockport has them.
The one's I have now I bought 4 years ago, no leaks.....I've learned th wash them off after use dry good and put some type of powder on them when you put them up for long time storage.

I use hodgmans wadelite and shimano booties for the kayak and neoprene waders and shimano booties for wading fishing. In the summer I just wear the shimano booties. Very Happy

I couldn't get Hodgemans in neoprene at Academy but there breathable's always leaked anyway. They had other neoprene brands that looked good, but I guess I'm too tall and too fat cause the only ones that fit were the cheep stone creek brand. No leaks so far. For breathable waders I got Reddman's from Sierra mail order. They have by far been the best I've owned. I'm sure the other better brands mentioned are as good or better. Mike and those guys do this every day and know what they are talking about. D

I agree with Mike completely about the Simms waders. I've owned several brands of neoprenes and one pair of high-end, stretchable, breathable Hodgemans that leaked the second year of use. None are of the quality of the Simms. I've had no problems but also understand from solid sources that their customer service is second to none. They carry them at Bass Pro as well, in the fly fishing department. Mike is correct- you get what you pay for and these aren't cheap. I've also owned my very last pair of neoprenes - the breathables are 10 times warmer, given what you can wear under them. Of course, none of that matters if you fish with guys like Aubrey Black who feel like if you're not wading deep enough to need a snorkle, you're just not wading (LOL).

I wear neoprene hodgemans. Had the same pair for four years now. wash them good and hang them up after each use. it's worked for me.

Cabela's Guide series!

Not as good as I have heard the Simms are, but I have had mine for two years now with no signs of leakage!

They are breathable so you don't sweat off the family jewels in the summer.

And best of all if they EVER leak they will replace them FREE!
There words "Unless you rip them or tear them they will replace them free if they EVER leak."

Guys YOU SIMPLY CAN"T BEAT THAT GUARANTEE!

I have Hodgeman Neoprene waders and have had my pair for nearly 4 years now. No leaks at all. I use the stocking foot with the wading boot over them, I think thats the way to go. I have had several friends that had leaks with the waders that have attatched boots.

If I can buy a pair of Hodgeman's for $50, that means I can buy about 3 or 4 pairs for the price of one pair of Simms. And if they last me 4+ years each... then I've got about 12-16 years (at least) worth of Hodgeman wader's for the price of one Simms. I hope Simms can last that long, or you wouldn't be getting your money's worth in my opinion.

Also no wader's needed from about May to early October...the water cools you off Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

with all of that insurance money go for the good stuff...seriously, I have Hodgeman neopreme for 4 years now and no leaks. Great in the winter, hot in the spring sometimes but I would rather sweat than freeze anyday. The hot in the spring makes the silver bullets go down even better.
