Opted to take an extra day off before returning to work. Weather forecast
was too good to pass up considering what it may be later in the week.

Got out about sunrise. Almost dead calm, low tide with no water movement and good water clarity. Unfortunately, there was little feeding activity going on. Lots of mullet just meadering around with seemingly no care in the world.

Started with top waters in knee deep water with no takers. Changed to suspending and caught a number of undersized specs in slightly deeper water. Decided to move back onto the skinny water flats and take a look at things. Pushing along in 6 inches of water I saw lots of slot reds..singletons, pairs and treys.....too bad I couldn't see them until I was right on top of them.....when it was too late. Most of them seemed to be nosing around in the mud, but no tails were showing. They were reluctant, but I still managed to get a couple of them to come home for dinner with me.

Nice catch. I was out also just after getting off work. Caught a few schoolies and about 15 Piggy perch that were about 12". (I had enough fish in the freezer so threw them back) Birds were working everywhere eating shrimp. most seem to have gotten so full they were just siting on the water. funny thing was nothing seem to be following the shrimp up there weren't top water hits just lots of birds.
