Last night I was pulling up to the boat ramp.. threw the boat in reverse to angle her in.. what the heck its still in fwd! fortunatly i was going slow enouph and the wind was weak enouph I was able to sit int he middle of the boat ramp.. Had to use the trolling motor to line it up then open the outboard and manually put it in neutral then manualy put it in forward.

Anyhow I opened up the control box and the metal tab that holds the shift cable snapped right off. Sad

So It looks like I will need an entire control box. Its a single lever control box it has a metal button on the top you push in to keep it in neutral for the fast idle on cold start ups.. Anybody have one laying around they would let go for fairly cheap?

Mr. John-rude himself Dennis and D&J Marine, Flour Bluff Dr. will likely have exactly what you need at a reasonable price.

Rob.....there is a reason that tab broke. You could have a problem with the cable being rusted and binding or the shift lever on your motor might be in a bind for some reason. But for whatever reason you might want to check it all out before it happens again on the new one you are going to put on.

its a late 80s 110 hp v4 crossflow.. uses the telflex cables.. Im sure many different controls would work but I have to have a sit on top and it has to have the fast idle button.

Robbie, do you mean that its a binnacle type box, not a side mount. IF thats the case, you dont have to have one with fast idle, a regular binnacle will work no prob, has no button but you can operate the throttle in neutral for start up. We have had good luck getting em off of ebay fairly reasonable, alot cheaper than anyone around here sells em for thats for sure. IF you can snap a pic of what it is you need and I'll see if my old man has one we have a couple of binnacles , but not sure if any of em are extras or if they have a boat they are going on.

Yeah I will see if i can get a pic when I get home.. Basically on mine I push the metal button in then I can move the thottle fwd or reverse and that basically keeps it from going into gear so i can idle it up on cold starts. Once im ready to go I just pop it back in neutral then the button releases and I am able to go into gear..

Gotcha, the new ones you just push the handle to the side, and then you have throttle control in neutral.

This is the control box that I have. All the parts except for #2 Shift lever assembly and #23 shift and throttle plate assembly are in good shape. I have a used control box on its way to replace my old one. If you need any of those parts let me know.

The link takes you to a series of menus. The box I have is for a 1989 110hp E110TLCEM. Look under the remote control section for that motor for the breakdown.
