For the 2nd time in a row, got cancelled on going deep sea for my 1st time. I guess mother nature doesnt want me to put a dent in fishing deep sea or something. We drove from Staples area all the way to offshore adventures in Port A. only to find out there were 9+ seas every 6 seconds and the boat wasnt going out. We decided why put a damper on the fishing and try ourselves. We stopped at the surfs near the packery jetties only to find the waves ROARING. I forgot who posted the previous info about the water conditions from friday but they werent lying. It looked like the only thing that was going to be caught was a wave from the surfers, i must of counted 20 surfers pass me up in about 30 minutes while fishing. Tried live mullet and shrimp but no takers not even hardheads. Decided our best bet would be in the bays, so we went to one of my favorite spots and managed to catch a few. Croaker seemed to be the bait of choice this weekend. No takers on mullet. 2 trout on pin perch the others on croaker. Trout to 20, red 21 1/2. Only place i saw with live shrimp was woody's in Port A. My buddy lost a good size flounder caught on perch also. Also buddies pops managed 1 red 17in, looks like i had the lucky hand this weekend as i managed all keepers. Is it us or does everyone have "there"day? Some days your on fire and others u just watch as your friends bring them in left and right. I know i've had my share of not so lucky days. So i cant say i havent put my time in. All in all we had a blast as always despite the weather.
