Summer is here and the Lagoon has supplied us with a fruitful bounty so far this year. The predictable spring wind has come and gone and now the warm, thick moist air has me in a sweat before dawn. I always look forward to late fall and winter fishing, and this year did not dissapoint. Although the fabled water known for giving up gorgeous trophy specks was tainted with brown tide, I was still able to fool two specimens over 30" this year. Recently, the northern sections of our lagoon have been spectacular for trout fishing, and the word got out quickly. I can't remember a time when more fishing boats lined the local shorelines. I have been given the oppurtunity to fish with many great clients and friends this year, and I thank them all for allowing me to share the experience with them. I am thankful to be blessed with what I believe is my true calling, and I strive to return more than I take while on this journey. At a time when the masses converge on our resource to fill thier spirits, as ambassadors, may we represent ourselves with the proper decorum. As time marches on, understand that although we may want to turn it back, we only have the moment and what is before us. My hope is that we all make the most of what we are given and left to give. _________________ Grind |

| Amen, Dr. Stunz gave a presentation last night at our CCA meeting and said that we currently have 700,000 saltwater anglers in Texas with 2,000 added every month - a 300% increase since 1992. We are only going to see more folks on the water. We need to make sure we educate people so that we can all enjoy the resource, and protect it while at the same time not running all over each other. |

| Well said, I thank God every day for the opportunity to fish the beautiful waters we are blessed with. Couldn't ask for a better place to spend my golden years... |

Thank You. I guess you can say I'm going through a spiritual revolution today. Today is my birthday, so please bear with me.
A 300% increase in Saltwater Anglers boots the local economy and keeps my boat running and the phone ringing... (not a bad thing). Education is vital to sucsess in all aspects of life. Anglers who practice in an ethical manner should take responsibilty a step further, and educate. _________________ Grind |

Everytime I'm out fishing the bays or the surf I stand and wonder what it would have been like 300 years ago. I wonder how many trout over 35 inches you could have caught in one day, or how many tarpon you could have caught up in the bays. Then realty sets in when I go home empty handed. More people fishing increases the number of illegal fish going home, sad. I keep the hotline number on speed dial on my cell but haven't had the chance to use it yet. _________________ Mastergunner, supporter of hardheads for state fish of Texas |

| My Grandad said the fishing on the south end of the Landcut back home, in the day wasn't all that hot. Then after the passes, and ICW and new structure, it took off. So maybe its not all bad. |

Sometimes "the good old days" really weren't that great. Air conditioned houses and cars are SWEET!!! I can stand the heat and the sun [I work outside most of the time] but when it comes down to sleeping or traveling, this homeboy wants to be comfortable! _________________ Dave

| AMEN, THE SAYING THAT WE NEED TO PROTECT AND CONSERVE FOR OUR GRANDCHILDREN IS OUTDATED. WE NEED TO LOOK OUT FOR OURSELVES AND ONLY KEEP WHAT IS NEEDED. I STILL FEEL THE TROUT LIMIT IS TOO LIBERAL. THIS IS BASED ON THE OLD RULE 10% OF FISHERMEN CATCH ALL THE FISH. I THINK THAT PERCENTAGE HAS INCREASED QUITE OF BIT BECAUSE OF ALL THE LEARNING THAT IS AVAILBALE FOR ALL. |

Thanks Bluffer, I don't take offense that that comparison...I just don't believe that Obama would know the difference between a speckled trout and a trouser trout. Years ago, I kept up with current events, politics, and especially the Presidential election. These days, it's frightening just to watch the Fox Business Channel. I decided to base my vote on the following criteria:
1. Which candidate would I rather spend a day on the water, or a weekend at the lease with. 2. Which candidate would I rather have beside me in the trenches during a time of war. 3. Which candidate is a Republican.
I don't think Mr. Obama fits any of the following criteria. I would venture to say....If Obama and I spent a day fishing Baffin together, and I took him on a short boat ride down the Rivera Channel with a 25 MPH SE wind, the only change he would be talking about is the one for his undershorts.
Thanks Gentlemen, I had a great B-Day. I spent it with my Family and we had a nice dinner at Water Street Seafood Co.

Joe, nicely stated. I guess I fall into the category of one of those new saltwater anglers. . . I'm here be entertained but mostly to become educated. I loaded up on the books listed on this site, and will probably read all 5 that I purchased next week while chillin with the fam in Port A.
But no worries. . . I'm incapable of adding much fishing pressure to the lagoon system. Especially if I try to use a baitcaster. _________________ Jeff
