| My best was a 24.5" on a red head white body suspending mirrolure in the first gut about 25 mm, hooked up about ten feet from me on the retrieve. Awesome fight. Heavy fish. |

The heavist trout between me and Tiffany was her 27" speck caught in the wade gut, 15 foot in front of her, on a green fish bite on a double drop, fishing for whiting.
I have caught longer trout, but none heavier. _________________ GOBZA!!!

I have 3 in the 27" range. Caught on Bone Top Dog, small live Whitting, and gold Tony Acetta #7 spoon. Have also caught several close to that on a variety of Mirror Lures (red & white, blue & gray and red & yellow). _________________ Big Ed

When I saw the title of this thread I was expecting to see a photo commentary of coeds from the Midwest down on the island for spring break.

She must have either hit it on the head or the fish must have been hungry. 1st time ive heard someone catch one on a fish bite from the surf.
I was fishing in Freeport last month and caught a horse mullet on dead shrimp while fishing for bait. I didnt think mullet ate shrimp????......weird |

The wife has the biggest trout off the surf at 29 1/2 inches, mine is only 27 inches. Both caught with root-beer -flake shrimp during low tide. Longhorn |

26 1/4" trout on the smallest shrimp you could get a #8 treble hook into without killing it.......nothin but eye balls.LOL!
I never use anything that small, but I was about out of bait and couldn't be picky.
That day was my best surf trout day ever. Memorial day of 92'. They really turned on Between 12:00 and 1:00PM after fishing a slow morning. Caught a limit of 22 - 23" inch trout, plus the 26er. _________________ Andrew J. Jones |
