Well I'm off today...finally. Thought I would share this story. It happen
yesterday...
I had a charter Monday, the person that booked the trip asked me to pick them up at their cabin in Baffin, which I have done with other clients
in the past. There was a total of 6 people so he said he would fish 3 people from one of their boats and I could fish 3 people from mine (no problem). I had been on some pretty good trout on the deep rocks all week using bait so I hauled extra bait down so the other boat would have
some. After a short run from their cabin I set up the other boat on a set of rocks and then I got set up. The guys fishing from my boat did pretty good with a box full of trout that averaged 20". The other boats catch wasn't even close but I think that was due to the lack of experience.
At the end of the day I noticed one of the guys in the other boat had a hand-held GPS hanging around his neck. I knew then I was screwed.
Tuesday morning I reached Baffin early, with another group of people
and guess what....their they were, my Monday charter sitting on the same set of rocks with their on boats. Funny part about this was the guy that owns the cabin has had it for 30 years. Seems to me he might know where to fish other that where I took them.
I hate greedy people......
Just thought you guys might get a kick out of this one....by the way the guy who booked the trip had another charter set up for June...I cancelled it yesterday afternoon
Even as low life as some people think guides are we never do that to each other....

| That's rank, I sure wouldnt do that to a guy who knows where my cabin is at. Sux people dont use the time to learn the method used to find fish, instead of just taking one spot. Spots dont last forever. |

well think about it this way, life is like a merry-go-round....what goes around comes around. How hard do you want to spin it? He will get his, maybe not even in fishing but it will come back on him in one way or another. Another thing to think about he will probably try to fish that spot religiously and not have luck a few times and think the spot died or that he just had a good day out when you took him there. _________________ still chasing my 30" trout |

| Years back that would have never happened because the morals of our country and people would'nt have let something like that die out. Sorry it happened to you but shows where our morals have gone to. |

He probably would share them....................................... for a price!!!!!!
Mike, sorry to hear that man. People get worse every year! I'll bet the guy is an attorney, doctor or stock market jerk, but I've been wrong before.
I hope that the fishing is going great for you this season!!! _________________ Dave

I guess they assumed that for paying you the day before that entitled them to your spot the next day. I can see that with novices that don't know any better but not with a 30 year vet. You may have to do what the headboats do and post a sign on your boat that says "Anyone caught using a GPS while on board will be keel hauled". |

Someone told me a while back that there were several GPS's nailed to the dock posts at a boat launch in Pt Mansfield. Supposedly this was done by local guide(s). Even if not true it still makes a funny story. _________________ Big Ed

What IMS said about how low this is.
My grandaddy would say"That's lower than a snake's belly in a wagon rut, boy."
Cap'n Mike knows what I think too and I like the GPS's nailed to a post at the boat ramp. Should hang a sign on the post that says "Guides other trophy board."

| Yeah, that's about as low as you can get. Those guys will get theirs in the end one day, running around with that GPS and get one of those famous Baffin Rocks they didn't know about right in the lower unit. Serves them right. |
