Well i'm back on my feet again after a super duper chest infection , man do those suck. Anyway the folks on Lola johnson rd, the rd upon where IMS lives lost their battle with the city. There will be 200 townhome units built between Lola johnson rd and Hustlin Hornet dr. This appears to be just the first phase as in the future more will be built north of Lola Johnson rd. Its all about change and big money, hold on tight everyone Laguna Shores is about to really change in the next couple of years. This will knock out a few of the places where wade fishermen and duck hunters park their vechicles inorder to do their thing. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

Glad to hear your up and around again. I'm home with a bug today, but not nearly as bad as you had it.
Sad to hear the Bluff is losing the battle to remain the Bluff. What will happen next is all the property values along Laguna Shores Rd will sky rocket, and along with them taxes. Alot of good people will be taxed out of their homes, and developers will buy them out, tear them down, and build water side McMansions. Very sad. _________________ GOBZA!!!

their will be many more fish frys and backyard bbq's before they buy me out. I do feel a buyout coming as we are right in the middle of the whole project. I'll listen to them as they talk the talk, but when it comes to money.....they gotta walk the walk. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

You are right oh Exalted Ruler of all Things Bluff, the doorknocking is coming. It's a real shame, the Bluff is such a unique place and so few of these environments are left in the area. The world is full of people who have to control and profit from everything. Hold out as long as you can!!! _________________ Later,

It's going on all around us....The Hill Country swallowed up by San Antonio and Austin and Houston and the Rio Grande Valley sprawling. We are sure to be next, especially being one of the last underdeveloped Coastal areas. I expect a great deal of growth in the near future, especially with the baby boomer generation to retire soon.
I would rather not see this type of thing happening to the little drinking town with a fishing problem. I can stand driving over potholes and sea water on a high tide, and the view is not bad from Laguna Shores. It sure will not be as nice cluttered with Condos. Keep up the good fight Stan, and tell them where they can shove thier offers and condos. Let's just hope the courts do not step in and take your once secluded and peaceful neighborhood away. I don't think it's all that bad to be against change and growth in the place that you have called home for years. _________________ Grind |

You tell em Slammer. I concur there is nothing wrong with standing up for what a guy feels is right. The Bluff is the Bluff, development will change the landscape forever and then the Bluff will no longer be the Bluff. There is a culture there that this development, if large scale, will change forvever. Long live the Bluff!!!! _________________ Later,

| And to think I heard my dad say many times, that he could have bought most of the bluff for $50.00 an acre. He said he was a dirt farmer and what was he going to dp with a bunch of sand and water frontage. We grew up on Rodd Field road and in 82 migrated to Robstown . Hate to see the Bluff build up once it starts it goes fast . |

Glad to see you on the board again.
Hold out as long as you can. Make them build around you and then get zoned for a fish gut dump. They will love ya.

Believe me with as much fish as IMS catches and takes home that will be no problem! |

Yeah. some people fight fire with fire.........fish guts, hmmmmmmmm??Really now ,if the change is good well ok i'm fine with that. We all know that the worse thingto do is start yelling ,screaming. and cussing it won't help a thing when you are going up against the almighty dollar. I just hope they (the city ) have a good 10 year plan and a vision of what Laguna Shores will be. We have lost the battle already, the townhomes will be a new landmark in the future for backyard fishermen, there's no changing that. Lets just hope they do it right. Sure i'll sell my place oneday............. "for 1 million dollars". _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

IMS, you stole my thought! If you can hold out long enough you will be paid dearly and never have anymore financial problems to worry about. None of us can put the "progress" genie back in the bottle. Hold on as long as possible and then stick it to 'em with a smile and a handshake.
The only place that I've ever been that has stayed static for many moons is Quantico Va. I lived there three times in my young life as a marine corps brat and left for the last time in 1970 at age 15. I went back while visiting the area almost 4 years ago. It was like time travel! I went to the places that we lived, where I went to school and where I used to fish................................all just the same. It was a really COOL feeling. I would imagine that most military bases are similar. The land isn't for sale to "developers"! _________________ Dave

IMS hope you can get a million for your place, no one derseves it more. However, once the prices get to high for the developers they get the city to come in and do all sorts of funny things with the ordanances and get you kicked out at a low ball price. Sure hope it doesnt happen I am just skeptical when developers and government start taking warm showers together.l
As always all the best. |
