Thank You for the picture Jason, yes, I do love that scene. Customers asked me yesterday if I ever get tired of fishing or wake up dreading going. After little thought, my answer was truthfully "never". I am thankful for the oppurtunity to spend countless days on the Texas Bay systems. I truly respect those who have, and still share the same passion and water with me.
Yesterday, the wind picked up to about 25mph plus by 9:00 am, and I was never able to find a steady bite. The ride back to the ramp was wet, and I had to tow a stranded boat/boaters for several miles in very rough conditions. My customers from Galveston were wanting to catch a 30" Baffin trout, but it was not in the cards. It felt like, after the day, they were a little dissapointed in the guide they decided to hire. I have learned that I have to get over days like that and move on. BTW, if anyone caught a 30" trout yesterday on a lure, my hats to you. Thanks again for the pic.....makes me want to be out there again grinding.

| Me being from Galveston people up there often expect the big trout to jump in the boat. All we get up there is the pictures and stories from down here. I took me time to realize after moving here you still have to trick em like up there. I released a 28 out of my 15 foot jon boat with every wave white capping and me nearly getting blown off the boat. |

Now that I see the Big Carp showing up in the flats up here, I know that some PIGS are mixed in . It won't be long until IMS posts up a Trophy Trout.......watch
You are correct about the out of town guys. It is Baffin Bay/ULM, I don't blame them for having high expectations. I know if your going to post reports, pictures and advertise a service, you gotta back it up or you wont be around long.

Joe......Drake and I had a trip set up for yesterday. I called him Sat. evening and we set it up for another day. I thought I would let those guys with hi-expectations go get 'um. Besides I'll melt if I get wet.

Aw, come on Cap - it wasn't that bad. The morning was nice. A buddy and I fished in Shamrock and found some tailing reds. Funny thing is my first instict was to grab for the camera but, in the shot I got, you can barely see his back out. We saw one of the most violent shoreline explosions ever. He managed a nice red before they moved off.
Here is that awful pic - wish my camera shot a little tighter. He's right in the middle of the pic.
Sorry for the slight hijack Jason. _________________ Save the seagrass......Shoot some ducks |

We wouldn't want Capt. Mikee getting wet as sugar is delicate stuff. As for the big pig that i might be posting soon. It will happen , but it will only happen when i go by myself because i can be very stealthy when alone and remain low profile even if it means casting while on my knees. Drifting to my destination from as much as a 1/4 mile away only bumping the trolling motor so as to keep me on my selected drift toward my intended target zone. Watching the water for any movement other than the normal wave action, scanning the whole time trying to take it all in, and knowing or hoping i choose the right moment to launch that topwater. If i'm lucky it will disappear as soon as it hits the water, or just before i make that first twicth, I like it when it happens like that because it kinda scares me, like a small jolt, and then comes the ever so long, will my line tighten up or will the topwater resurface so that i might entice the big gal into a second bite. Thats what I'm talking bout. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED.

capt mike hasn't melted since his first sadie hawkins dance.
he just thinks he sweet enough to melt, it's just the sugar in the rum oozing out of him. _________________ ccbobber |

Good one Stan, felt like I was there. Sounds like you have a gameplan that works. I like the details. Stealthy approach followed by a topwater casted to just the right spot, let it sit, slight twitch.....Fish on! Good Stuff. Try that around the redfish hole _________________ Grind |

Some people have unreasonable expectations when they hire a guide. A guide can help you eliminate many of the mistakes you might make on your own. But really, do they expect miracles? I happen to know Bayslammer and I can't think of anyone who would work harder to try to GRIND out a 30 incher for them. If they were dissapointed in their guide maybe they should remember that sportsmanship is more important than self interest. If 30 inchers were easy to bag, we would see pictures of them posted here every day. I prefer these magnificent Ladies to be a goal to which one can aspire rather than an every day deal. Would these out of towners even be here if these girls were common? Just keep on grinding Joe. And keep on catching great fish for Leighton to take your picture with. _________________ Be a sportsman. Practice CPR. Catch, Photo, & Release. |

Thanks Bill I really appreciate that.
I am not suggesting that clients I fish with are unreasonable. Communication before the boat hits the water is the most important thing. My goal is satisfied customers at the end of the day. The factors that I can control to achieve that customer satisfaction, will be paid very close attention to. _________________ Grind |

That would definitely make the job harder, and a very unreal/unfair expectation _________________ Work hard to play harder!!!
