Don't know about the rest of you but these gas prices are really starting to get into my pocket book and what I have learned from some of my clients in the oil business over the past few days.....the prices are going to
be at $4.00 a gal. This could be sooner than we all think.
I don't know of any 4X4's that get 30 mpg in the sand or any outboards that get 10 mpg on the water.....only the rich will be fishing?

You are correct Mike, things are bleak for those of us without oil wells in our backyards. One of my colleauges is heavy into oil and gas and says 4.00/gallon is not a possibility but a probability very soon. It is sucking the life out of alot of Americans who squeak by. Don't know the immediate answer but I thinnk everyone needs some relief! I'm sure you are feeling it buring the gallons you burn daily. _________________ Later,

| Oars. Think row, row, row your boat. How long does a trolling motor battery last? Just filled my tuck up yesterday, diesel, was over $50 and it wasn't even at the 3/4 low mark. May be pushing that thing next. |

Mike you are right on. I have always driven a Toyota 4X4 with a 4 cylinder engine and 5 speed transmission. I live near Weber and Holly road. I remember just a few years ago, I could make it from my house to the Mansfield jetty and back on $10.00 worh of gas. Now I would be very lucky for that same $10.00 to get me as far as Yarborough. From the point of view of a surf fisherman, this is just going to put more pressure on the surf of Packery and the Mustang area. Really sucks man. But what can we do about it except to try to make more money? I own a window washing business in Corpus Christi and have been telling my customers for about a year that when gas prices top the $3.00 per gallon mark, we are going to have another price increase. I never dreamed that we would be talking about the $4.00 per gal mark this soon. I'm starting to see a choice of losing profit vs. losing business and this has me worried.

I worry about those who don't make alot of money and are trying to raise and feed a family and have to drive along way to work. What the hell are they going to do? I live pretty close to work and will probably purchase a mortorbike of some sort to tool back and fourth to work on. I also see retirement a little further down the road than i had anticipated. Our plans to travel after retirement will be scrubbed due to gas prices 8-10 years down the road. I will keep fishing out of my 16 ft with the 40hp I don't think there will be any plans to purchase a larger rig in the future. Rub a Dub Dub Ironmanstan fishing from a tub. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

Its not only gas prices, Everything we use is affected by fuel. It costs more to run to the store to grab a gallon of milk. Our groceries are going up, it takes more gas in the truck that delivers them Power costs more. Building materials. . . .damn near everything....
Back when in the 90's, I remember farm diesel at $.69/gallon. Now its over $3.50. Think about that one and how much your farm goods cost because the farmers fuel costs went up astronomically.
Salaries in general are about the only thing that hasn't gone up-and I am not talking about minimum wage.
I drive 250 miles to work every week round trip!!!
While all the liberals are worried about global warming while it has been going on for BILLIONS of years, we are sitting here wondering what we are going to do when gas goes up anymore!!!!
Build some damn refineries--our economy needs them in more ways than a few! _________________ http://www.thirdcoastoutdoors.com

What really put the gas prices in perspective for me is the fact my wife and I have a friend that is a single mother with 2 kids she has a job and is doing the best that she can. We take fish to the when we can and was visiting the family last week. She asked me what the heck she was going to do when it reached the $4.00 mark......I really didn't have an answer.
I still don't...

I have been feeling it too. Last week I fished five days out of the week. Yesterday my wife sent me an e-mail and informed me that in one week, I debited over $1000 in gas and other fishing expenses . When I did the math yesterday, I figured out that I actually lost money, even though I ran guided trips. Actually, when I factor in all of the costs involved, I can't imagine how I will be able to continue fishing as often. When I can fish and stay in the black, the family is O.K with all the time I spend on the water. Lately, guiding and working my tail off fishing all week and still operating in the red....Not so O.K with that . Gas prices are really hurting, I hope they do not continue to go up or I will have to fish out of a kayak.

People will make fewer trips and eventually the price will go down. Anytime I am south of the 30 mile mark on PINS, Sandifer asks "So, I see you got someone to give you gas money" |

Also, we have acres and acres of untapped oilfields in Alaska and the Gulf that we don't drill because the liberals whine.
We need to get off our butts and start using these vast and valuable resources that could drastically reduce our dependence on foreign oil and lower our gas prices. . . _________________ http://www.thirdcoastoutdoors.com

Beech is right, and we all know everything revolves around the price of fuel, my electric bill for one. My welding on the side, steel prices continue to climb. There will be alot more mom and pop businesses pushed out. Sad all the way around, no matter how you look at it. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

| Stan, my steel supplier here has had 3 price increases since the first of the year. This is still Feb. Steel that I bought for $63 a plate is now going for $118 sheet. Supplier told me China is buying all they can get there hands on. They are also helping drive up the price of fuel. Hope we dont' get it back like we did in the 40's. |

I am planning a trip down the week of March 17th for our spring break. It takes me 2 1/2 tanks from Dallas towing my travel trailer to get to Bob Hall Pier. I hate to think about selling the travel trailer because it is too expensive to pull it. It is always a 50/50 on staying in a hotel or towing the trailer. It has to be more than 5 days to break even. I am looking at close to 350.00 just in gas to and from this trip. That could start eating in to my adult beverage fund. |

Just be glad you don't have to buy Jet-A in Corpus!! (Our price in Corpus is about $2-3/gallon higher than other areas in Texas!!!!) That doesn't make a lick of sense. almost twice as much as some places around!!!!!
go here---> http://airnav.com/fuel/local.html
type in CRP, and make sure you click 100ll and jet-a and limit it to prices reported in the last 30 days!!
There is another thing these prices affect----airline tickets, mail, cargo, shipping...........................etc................ _________________ http://www.thirdcoastoutdoors.com
