| Going down with a group of newbies. They would like to camp near the black top for access tot he showers, I am worried about crowds. I would like to head down south, find a place that has little weed and run out some baits at night. Should I be worried about tent / gear if they stay near the black top? seems like a perfect place for a hit and run, literaly..... |

Plenty of people do that but I would worry especially during a weekday when there are less people around. The reason is we have actually had people leave all of their stuff either due to a storm, maybe a Ghost crab in their sleeping bag, windstorm etc. so sometimes folks will scavenge what they think someone has left.
I would not leave valuable stuff by itself and I would try to camp near some folks who were actually going to be around all day.
Have fun! |

remember the showers / bathrooms at the visitors center are closed from 7am to 8am for cleaning every morning, so get there early or sleep in late. _________________ GOBZA!!!

If you camp close to the blacktop be ready for people to set up between you and the surf, they don't care if they block your veiw and access to the water. Your best bet would be to go down further and make those newbies toughen up a little. It is better to rotate trips to the showers when needed than to be crowded. I know some women think they must have a toilet to go to the bathroom but your trip will be much more enjoyable the further you get from the blacktop this weekend. And never go off and leave your camp unless you don't mind losing stuff. _________________ Mastergunner, supporter of hardheads for state fish of Texas |
