Just a heads up for waders and Kayak fisherman ...
Just over the Kennedy bridge and the first turn off to the right before the little bridge (as if you were going to Marker 37 or Clem's) there is a little beach area that Kayak fishermn use to launch.
There are 2 large wood posts there that I assume mark a oil pipeline.
Everyone launches south of them and I see why.
I ran my Kayak up there into water that was about 9 inches deep and stepped over the side.
Sank waist deep in black smelly mud.
Had to get three other fishermen there to pull me out. This was less than 15 feet from the shoreline. if it was not for them I would still be there. Had my cell phone in my pocket but it survived ... billfold in rear pocket full of stinky black mud. boots full, pants coated.
Dont wade anywhere around those two posts ... I think the pipe line leaks a bit.
Live and learn.

It doesn't require a leaky pipeline for that to happen. There are at least a couple of areas over near Port Aranasa, and one is just off of Aransas Channel where you can have a similar experience. BTW, I agree, it can be pretty scary!
