As I left the office yesterday I saw that the wind was almost zero with good overcast skies. My wife had late classes and my son would be gone to night classes too, so I hurried home to get my gear together. I hooked it down to the water as quickly as I could and raced across the water towards my target area to catch part of the evening feed. I kept having to slow down when visible fish were encountered, and before I even got to my preferred area I had landed three nice reds that were cruising the edge of the river with backs exposed. Once I got to the better area I could see roving fish in the distance, and a few times I spotted exposed fish from hundreds of yards away. It's tough to keep the speeds down and avoid creating wakes when you can see the fish you want working away from you, lol. In that hour I got the jump on seven schools and landed seven solid redfish. I snuck in on one exposed bull that would have been about 33" long, and as I got within flyrod range, it turned my way and came to within ten feet before slowly turning back toward the shore. Since we were so close, I opted for the spinner and gently placed the lure beyond my fish. She didn't like the disturbance and made her way to deeper water. Oh well, I found some great fish and was glad when I had to hurry back to the truck before it got dark.

| Very nice fish. I see you are throwing a TFO rod - 5 or 6 wt? How do you like your Nautilus reel - thinking about getting one for a similar rod. |

That's a six weight Pro II. I prefer the 4 weight, but it requires light winds to make accurate casts, especially if the casts need to be very far. The Nautilus reels are tanks. Completely waterproof and always ready for whatever I throw at them. I have the small, medium and Large X-frames running 2, 4, and 6 weight lines. |
