Stellar day on the beach! Great smooth driving, low surf and crystal clear water from shore to as far as I could cast. Fished a falling tide from 9 am -1:30 pm with Fish Bites and cut mullet about 9/10ths of mile casting various distances from shore, targeting pompano. Even threw a silver spoon with no luck. Caught whiting galore and caught my third ever smooth puffer fish (thanks for the I.D. Captain Mike!). No other species were caught. Saw several pomps caught between my location and BHP as I was leaving. Figures!
Of note: I found an old sailboat in the wade gut approximately 1.1 miles south of BHP. It appears to have been there awhile as its hull is mostly submerged in the sand. I may don my snorkeling gear and check it out tomorrow afternoon-evening as I plan to fish the incoming tide for pomps. Hit the beach y'all!
I miss my buddy Stan! _________________ HooYah!

We were just south of you from about 1:00-5:30, just North of the South sticks.
threw green shrimp and electric chicken fish bites and dead finger mullet. Nothing but tons of smallish whitingbas well.
Rods with mullet kept coming back empty but the rod never moved.
Not sure I've ever seen the water that gin clear before! _________________ Steve-O

| How sure are you that it's a sailboat? There is an old shrimper out there close in somewhere, it's been there since the 70's. |

JIA: pretty sure its a sailboat. Definitely not a shrimp boat as I've seen my share of those submerged after Celia. Made my first money as a "professional" salvage diver after that storm. Narrow beam and three rectangular portholes on low profile cabin with single hatch. Will verify today during an afternoon fishing excursion and take unscientific measurements. Also will take my hi-tech tools (wire brush and scraper) as well as my new FujiFilm Quick Snap "waterproof" camera ($15 and change from Walmart. Hold my beer - I'm going in! _________________ HooYah!

First, definitely a sailboat. Sea conditions not as calm today as yesterday AND water level (as expected) was higher, so no sub-surface exam. Will have to go back at low tide for a better look but field measured length is 30-36 feet and firmly sanded in. Starboard side and stern sitting higher than port and forward. Curiosity will lure me back on lower tides and, in the future, I hope to ID the vessel with bow registration # and/or name on stern. Retirement rules! _________________ HooYah!
