so, we made the mistake of buying a fishing cabin in the laguna relatively close to the causeway.....it needs some pier and beam work...
anyone have any recommendations? obviously looking for someone reasonable... not needing a full rebuild or anything, and it doesn't have to be perfect, just better than it is..
TIA,

If I understand correctly it's in the Laguna, in the water or on land? In other words, do you need a contractor with a barge or not?

I saw a guy with a flatbed trailer full of treated posts driving up PINs the other day, they must have had a sale on them or something somewhere down there. You might look into it.

Jeff Kratz is who many people use for working on their cabins.

I know the Laguna part is a bonus! Just remember CABIN is a relative term.

Jeff just hauls material on The Wide Load. I would call Kenny at the Fish Market, the old Vanoys fish market. Guys will haul lumber down p.i.n.s to leave at Yarbrough Pass. Use to be able to take materials to the King Ranch near Compertas Pass, but you got to know [ a guy ]
I will do the work for a percentage of ownership. The holes will need to be blown out with the post in place if in the water like for the dock. i would put a p.v.c. collars around them. On land i would go to the water table and back fill with quickcreate. |

Jeff does more than haul, numerous people in the cut used him for work since the hurricane. While we were repairing ours, we saw him heading back Friday afternoons after spending the week down there working.

1) a lot of lumber washed up on the beach with Hannah, people are collecting it
2) the cabin is on land (TGLO) cabin, not a floater (TPWD)
3) Kratz is booked through next year
4) the old Wide Load is now called the Bandit and is owned by a friend, and parked at Clems
5) thanks for the generous offer to get a piece of ownership for a little foundation work, but I'll pass
y'all have been extremely helpful

Becky, if you don't find an acceptable solution, I have a friend who owns a cabin at the entrance to the land cut and built his on cabin on stilts, is or was a home builder and would probably give you free advice on how to establish your foundation or piers where they are trouble free, as his are. If you are interested I will see if I can you two together.

thanks for reaching out....we got after it this past weekend and got a lot of the pier and beam work knocked up...now we just have to frame in a new door in place of a window on the back wall, and then go back up with siding...
work in progress, we'll eventually get there...
