A buddy and I headed way down PINS Friday night to take the kayaks offshore. We arrived before dark and played with the skipjacks in the surf as the sun set behind us. They're a hoot on the fly rod! I slept in a new (to me) tentcot and was surprised at how comfortable it was. I'll be happy to sleep in it on future trips down beach. Saturday morning we launched into considerably cooler water, and once the sun got warm it was a welcome break from the August heat. The fish farther from shore sure don't seem to mind cold water currents, and by 10:30 we had each caught and released 25-26 kings, so we headed in to explore the beach farther South. Sure enough the bait was gone from the cooler surf, but it was still great to be allowed back on the people's beach for a little while.

Good video Glenn! Keep them coming.

Why in the world would a boater come that close to you when they have the entire gulf to fish? Shaking my head...

I never figured that out, but at least he didn't cut my line with his props. Sometimes a bent rod or two can bring some boaters in like bugs to a porch light, LOL.

You've always said kings line up to eat your bait when no one else is catching...

cot tents are great, especially for keeping the bugs out - nice and cool through the night.
Excellent result - thanks for posting.
Glenn, you should show off your Stealth 555 on AzSquid's What Boat thread on the fly fishing page.
Would especially like to see rigging details.

"Hey there any cobia around that guy in a bathtub? lets run up and check!"

Good report prof. There is just something about waking up in a tent cot down there and heading straight out that gets in your bones!

Absolutely! We had a breeze during the night and it was really comfortable.

Heck yeah Prof......video was awesome man. I want to hit it one more time this year. Watching the weather. Do you think that big front will shut them down for next week? Looks like the wind is going to be out of the north for most of the week.
