Apparently, somebody doesn't watch Jim Cantore too closely. Tropical Storm Marco is headed EVEN farther East this am, and is forecast to make landfall near the mouth of the MS. |

| Well, kicked off of the sticks. Packery entrance road is barricaded off, but Newport is open. We're out here fishing in a parking lot of cars and popup tents. Not even whiting so far. Might snag somebody"s kid here if the keep paddling thru my lines. |

I guess they would rather be safe than sorry. Too many dumb people ignore warnings even when they are spot on.....example...oh yeah...it is a hoax...so disregard. I just hope all the cowboys over on 2 Cool put just their foolish lives in danger up North along the upper coast and not our first responders and others. _________________ Mike |

one thing that should be apparent.
The people who have the ability/choice/power are using control of beach access to discourage summer vacation and tourism into your specific home area.
I believe you will see all similar restrictions disappear for good after Labor Day. |

| Well, there are a couple of things occurring which may cause the beaches to be open sooner than later and I don't think it will have anything to do with Labor Day. Those occurrences are the daily new infections rate of the CCP Virus is decreasing in Nueces County, and numerous vaccines are in their final stages of approval. I'm not sure we would not be doing the same thing the local authorities are doing with closing or limiting the access to the beaches if it were our responsibility to make the decision, especially due to life or death being the consequence of their decision. In other words, what would you be doing if it were your decision? |

I wouldn't be turning this forum into a non-stop rant about it.
The forums that have operated the smoothest since April are the ones that banned covid topics, or where the members self-moderate to prevent/ignore such topics. and keep discussions going on topic - e.g., General Saltwater Fishing. |

if you search my post history, you'll see that's exactly what I've done.
But it would be nice for this Fishing forum to have some alternatives to simply going away.
In the meantime, been tinkering up a raced-out light surf reel, beginning with a '95 AG - could have bought one for less, but this is my birthday project.
Later today, will be tinkering the mag add-on inside the backplate.

Those are so beautiful they belong on the wall - a friend that has several , i said the same to him, if i had one of those and spent what you did, that sucker would be up on my wall, actually what I said, was my wife would be wearing on a necklace. (my wife, hard as it is to believe , disagreed). _________________ Don - permanent prescription of salt water therapy. |
