Do you consider it bad form for a boat fisherman to anchor up close to the shore or a channel, effectively cutting off the area for a bank fisherman??
Little channel, under the highway leading to Padre Isles. Boatload (with a tower no less!!) anchors up right near the bridge, and is fishing the same area as the bank guys (or gals..... not judging).
Is the consensus that 'was a googan move'? Or am I off-base here, and it's all just free, open water? |

Bad form for sure if bank anglers are there first, otherwise not so much. Is this spot that good of a fishing hotspot?? I imagine the same question applies to places like in the crash channel on the opposite side of the channel from the floating cabins (which may or may not still be there after the last storm) there. _________________ Gary J

Googan too big or an arm chair fishing word there for me. Idiot dummy not responsible or courteous enough to be allowed to own a boat is more like it. Way too common now days unfortunately. There is a law in Texas TPW impeding a person right or ability to hunt or fish. Its under the Sportsmans Rights Act 62.0125. No person may intentionally interfere with another person lawfully engaged in the hunting or catching of wildlife. Seems alot need to take notice of this when out boating, literally tring to climb on top of someone who just caught a fish there humm cough bob hall pier rats cough cough.. Be courteous report em get a hull number tell em I hate to see good things ruined because of a this is my spot mentality or let me squeeze in its bs wake up people act human and like men. Stop acting entitled but humble and respect each other. _________________ Long time avid fisherman rod builder. |

| I saw a group of shore fishermen in the general area, a little further East where it curves back, the other day and there were four boats anchored up fishing at that spot. they were anchored in the middle of the channel casting back towards where the people were standing on the shoreline. |

While I personally wouldn't anchor up next to some bank fishermen because I bought the boat to get away from other people, I don't think it warranted this kind of response. No one is harassing anyone. That place is shoulder to shoulder every weekend. If people think they need to take their boat there to catch fish. Who cares?! If the bank fishermen were concerned with fishing that close to other people they should pick a different spot because you never have that spot to yourself. Don't even get me started on whether the bank fishermen should even be there. Wasnt that area barricaded with posted signs to keep people out?
Speaking of harassing I've had bank fishermen heave weights way out into the channel close to my boat. So who is harassing who at this point.
Regardless, when anyone decides to fish a high traffic area, expect to have someone come and potlick. _________________ Great captains, the stuff of legend, are made not by what they have caught, but by what they have given back. |

Old saying goes you cant catch any fish watchin my line. Spread out give your fellow anglers their children and some families some elbow room.

| There's a place in Galveston called Hannah's Reef that can be stupid like that sometimes. If it's loaded, move on. If it gets loaded, move on. Pretty simple really. |

both parties (boat and land fisherman) are going after the same fish. If you were on the jetty and a boat is fishing the jetty, is that any different? I think as long as both parties respect each others comfort zone it's all good. You ever been to tide gage? Gets a little tight there too. I think you're over reacting, but that's just my opinion, and you were asking for opinions. |

Was it that idiot in a yellow older tower boat looks like a shallow sport. I hate that guy, he's probably the most inconsiderate person I consistently see on the water. He's burned me both poling and wade fishing. Came so close on Saturday that I could have hit him with a fly cast.
I saw all those guys fishing the drum school in packary this weekend too. Looked like a goat rope. _________________ It's not the destination, the journey is everything. |

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!!!!
That would be the offending parties (maybe 5-6 Stunads on the boat, parked right in the middle of a very narrow channel, and shore fisherman on both sides....).
I just look at it and think, you got a way to traverse the entire bay, and fish where you want, but you got to pot-lick on a spot where the guy without a boat is stuck with......
Maybe I'm wrong, and it may be a 'who got there first' issue, but it just seems like a 'Googan who walks down an empty pier to cast next to you once you landed a keeper' move..... |

That guy is a piece of work. Dont worry he doesnt only discriminate against shore fisherman, I've seen him all over the bay. Maybe one day hell figure out hes being a jerk and change his ways a little bit. _________________ It's not the destination, the journey is everything. |

I once was fishin packery a few yrs back chunkin lures after a morning on the water in the boat. Saw an old man fishin gave him his space moved on its a whole jetty and gulf. Few minutes later a flats boat zooms out around the jettey and puts right in front of this old msn. Long story short he got on his phone called TDPW. Game warden shows up and this is how i got enlightened to this law. Just wish people would give people room and respect more. I know bank anglers are stuck to limited areas. So i dont fish or go fast by areas i see bank fisher persons on or kayakers. Just rude and not how i was raised. Yep some people dont deserve to own boats or think they own every fishin spot. Sometimes a little speaking up brings people to a realization hey im a idiot. And the goat rooe at packery. Dont get me started everyone just needs to be a little more courteous give space its a big place especially if you jmhave a boat.
