My buddy said he has pulled some really nice fish out of there, I live in Portland and see so many people there all the time I can't imagine something isn't being caught. My pal said to park right under the Buddy Ghanem Exit sign and wade out right there, I have yet to try it. I know it gets real deep in there though.

I haven't fished it but scoped out some deeper spots in there using the satellite view on Google maps.

You might want to check the rules for that area. I read a paper once that said portland had some strange parking and fishing regulations for that area. Very Happy

A guy told me one time that it's full of reds and flounder and that it used to be an old fish hatchery...

We used to ski in there when you could launch a boat in the 70's. we also used to sail line it.

I remember very distinctly back in 1989, I was 8 yrs old and we actually launched my dads shoalwater in there and pulled this thing tht was called the "bobsled" it was bright orange and a lot of fun !!!! Never fished it, and I actually was raised in Portland. But I know for a fact that there are BIG TROUT in there !!!! I have a good buddy who fishes it regularly. I want to flounder it myself. May go hit it soon, and try.

It's amazing that after all of the replies nobody has yet fished it!?!?

I used to think about it when out netting bait or catching fiddlers, but I never bothered, thinking that surely it was fished out because of it's basically a landlocked location. I notice on the Google Earth image that there looks to be a culvert under the causeway on the NE side. Is that enough to keep the fishery going?
