With schools out for a long summer, kids are having fun, even into the night hours. In the Tropic Isles neighborhood in Flour Bluff, I am fearful for the children, as they may be mistaken for prowlers or burglars. With hard times comes more thefts, and most neighbors here are alert and armed.
Children crossing property lines, especially at night, and shining flashlights at, or into, houses at night, may not be well received by residents. I would hate for an accident to happen when these kids may not be aware of the potential reaction of their neighbors.
In addition, all residents may not carry liability insurance should these children injure themselves on their neighbors' property. Even though their parents may not sue the property owner, their medical insurance lawyers may seek compensation from the victim property owner.
I am glad to see kids outside and having fun, but worry about them, mostly at night when they may be mistaken for theiving trespassers. |

Kids will not follow (or even know of) curfews unless parents do a good job of making them aware if that...which is probably not happening. Enforcement is probably weak, if any at all.
Great things to think about, but I believe most people can tell the difference from kids messing around to someone in/on their property for other reasons. Just be careful and use good judgement. It's similar to a post I replied to earlier - Saturday the beaches were PACKED like it was July. But it was a mix of tourists and locals as opposed to all tourists. I believe the schools staying closed is a major contributing factor to this and what you're mentioning. _________________ All things will pass. Have a Blessed day. |
