I went down to my hot tub this evening but before I went in I went out to the dock and see if there are any fish. I made three casts caught three fish and then wad satisfied and went to the hot tub. I was using 1/32 ounce jig head with a small curly tail lure. bunch of small tiny fish swimming around the light so I matchef the hatch like you do in freshwater fly-fishing. Used two in tandem like a spec rig. There's a penny in the picture to show the size

Zia, you're ready for a Japanese rockfish rod for your dock.
This ebay search will give you a range of choices.

I fished the $100 Dark Horse 8' two weeks ago wading the shoal at Little Cut on the incoming tide,
and could cast from the shoal all the way to the cut bank, and that was with zero wind behind me.
My buddy Lou has the Major Craft 7'6" and it's also very nice for the price.
Note that the lighter UL rockfish rods will throw 0.5g, which is about 1/64th oz.
Here's a video of a high-grade Yamaga rockfish rod at work
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sU6OwKUZfZs
starting about 7 min, he's catching big fish
The night fishing in the back of this video is not worth watching,
but the rod loading with your exact 1g jig weight is pretty neat

| Yep, there are tons of really small bait fish swimming around. Was fishing a canal a few days ago and wasn't catching any but noticed all the small baitfish and luckily i had a some small freshwater lures that actually did the trick on some smaller specs. No keepers but at least I didn't get skunked. |

the big trout are in my canal with match the hatch lures. There was a ball of small silversides at my light today and I went out made one cast and got a 19 inch trout. Saw it come up and devour my lure.
Pretty cool! |
