I have a P99 in .40 which is a great gun, but it is too large for concealed. Id like a PPK .380 but it seems like all I can find is .22LR. Not a terrible caliber but Id prefer 380. Any leads on new or gently used? _________________ All things will pass. Have a Blessed day. |

My P99 was made in Ft. Smith, AK. But it's under the Walther name. Well, let me re-word that. It's final assembly was in Ft. Smith, but it has parts from both the USA and Germany. The entire bottom is plastic/composite and extremely light. Only actual metal on it is the trigger plate, springs, and of course magazines. All the metal is on the top. Slide, barrel, recoil spring, etc.
I know they have a factory there but it may be a "DBA". Airbus has a factory in Alabama, Toyota is considered domestic and is racing in NASCAR now...as long as the product stands to its namesake, who cares?
It's been superb so far. I'd love to find a retro PPK but I don't know if I have the wallet to find one, LOL. Thanks for the good info though.
They make a P99CCP too, but it just looks so funny with the short grip (that and I think it only holds 7 rounds). PPK is so much more sexy. Plus, if it kicks like my normal .40, that handle is gonna slide up and make you drop it after 3-4 fast rounds. (Has anyone tested this model?)
Just all thoughts. Thanks again for treating me to this forum of Walther lovers. _________________ All things will pass. Have a Blessed day. |

| Have you looked at the Bersa Thunder? It's a bargain basement PPK copy and the ones I have seen are reliable. Academy has them under $300. |

| Walther is machined in Europe and assembled and tuned in Fort Smith at the Umerx plant. Solid pistols and air guns built by folks that care. |

| Your choice of the Walter PPK 38 cal is right on. I have one my Dad brought back from WWII and it is an exceptional little weapon. I hope you find what you want. I'm going to look into the Bersa Thunder for an alternative shooter. |

I've never heard of the Bersa but I'll give it a look. It's hard to pass on the real thing though. _________________ All things will pass. Have a Blessed day. |

| Walther opened a plant in the USA last year and is making their own PPK/S in .380. These are not under license, but actually made by Walther. |

The Bersa truly does have the looks with half the price tag, but I really can't go without that Walther name. Plus, the reviews are mixed at best, where the PPK has reviews all the way back to WW2 all thumbs up, LOL. I'll find one, it just may take some time. It looks from the Walther website they are only producing the .22LR variant right now, but maybe they will shift back to .380 production soon. Until then, I'll just keep lookin'.
Interarms has a way better reputation than Bersa, and has rights to the Walther name, but I'd still rather have a true Walther IMO. I think it will just require persistence.
Thanks to those of you that PM'ed me with links, btw. _________________ All things will pass. Have a Blessed day. |
