I've used the teachers credit Union since 1980. It's now called Corpus Christi area and teachers credit Union. Extremely satisfied

I couldn't resist ... with my really dark sense of humor.

But seriously, I've used Navy-Army for quite some time and have always quite happy.

30 Month CD rates up to 3.33%
Liberty Checking pays 3.00% up to 25K
Financed a car with them and got 1.25% lower than any other offer

It's worth looking into, and you don't have to be a Vet.

Whomever you go with, make sure they are part of the CO-OP network,. They do transactions for other credit unions. They don't charge a fee for ATM transactions.
My credit union is in Houston, and in 40+ years, I've never been in it. My wife has an account at Security Service CU, and I can deposit checks or cash into my account from Portland or Corpus, instantaneous. Not all credit unions work with each other.
Security Service is the credit union for Stripes employees, so they're pretty big in South Texas. TexasJim

I use Navy-Army primarily because they didn't have Randolph-Brooks here when I originally moved. That being said, I have never encountered bad service from them at all. I have had my card "hacked" once, but they alerted me so fast I had it shut down before the clown could spend more than $2.30! No problems getting me a new one the same day.

While I still kept my RBFCU account primarily for transactions to and from my parents back north, I think their customer service isn't as good. However, their website is more user-friendly, and they just recently started CO-OP'ing with Navy-Army which made my life a lot easier. I have not been to any of the branches here since they moved into town, but again it's no longer my primary account. When it was, I had my card with them hacked three different times and a lot of money had to be returned to me. No issues recovering, but they (at least back then) didn't seem to have good security or alerting measures.

The benefit to RBFCU is they have always had better rates for home and auto loans than NACCU. At one point NA was doing 3.25% auto when RB was doing 1.65%. Those days have passed, but they are still on average lower. However, NACCU's checking account interest rate is absolutely awesome, you have to meet a list of like 10 items a month to qualify for it though. Most of it is just meeting their minimum transactions.

Both of them offer free savings and checking accounts and overdraft protection as long as you keep X amount of money in your savings account. Your choice, but thought I'd let you know my experiences.
