| Been fishing PINS since 1992. On my better years, making over 20 weekend trips. One thing I have never been able to overcome is the 1-2 month itch and welts to the underside of my knees. I used to think it was mosquitos and have gone to war with them before, especially after a rainy period. Then I thought it was the horse flies. Those things hurt. Well, this last time I went, I did not get mosquito or horse fly bit. What is biting the back side of my knees and what prevents that? Also, do you all recommend after-bite treatment? |

Almost sounds like an allergic reaction to something versus bugs, When I do get the mosquitoes or horse flies, usually only in VERY light wind, they go for my legs (all over) and arms. You might be better off taking some Benadryl. Neither of those bite me in 10+ kt winds, and that was even when I weighed 140 lbs more than I do now...

Campho is also something to look into. Something my grandfather swore by and they haven't outlawed yet because it causes cancer or some crazy BS like that.
Based on your suggestion that it's always at the back of the knees, I'd bet you're allergic to the saltwater itself or something within the water. My stepmother always has her psoriasis triggered by our water here. It's weird but something to consider. _________________ All things will pass. Have a Blessed day. |

| My brother had severe chafing on the back of his knees after his last visit that was pretty brutal. It was at the line that his board shorts where at and due to the consistent rubbing of the shorts on his skin in the surf. |

| I get that somewhat, but I always attributed it to stinging nettles off the jellys. Vinegar seems to help mine |
