....but someone forgot to tell the trout.
Fished Mustang Island near the Fish Pass jetty, and south of Bob Hall on 7/27. Threw my favorite Spooks, soft plastics, and Mirrolures, with only a couple of short strikes. I saw one dink trout follow my spook right up to me in the fairly clear water, but nada.
Finally, I hooked what I thought was a pretty good trout on a Mirrolure MiroLip, but it turned out to be a 15" wampus whiting, at least dissipating the offending odor of polecat.
Did any of you folks find any trout in the surf yesterday (Sat)? |

I was hoping to hear of some trout but nothing so far. Nick Meyer went on PINS today and it was too big for topwaters so he threw sinking plugs and spoons and not trout but he did get whiting on bait. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

Slot reds on live lining mullet in the mid 20's - that was Saturday afternoon (july 27). _________________ Don - permanent prescription of salt water therapy. |

Perfect????
The surf was down right angry at about 7:00 am or so this morning?!?!
Big winds overnight had two different wave trains working, making for some sloppy stuff in the wade gut and the first bar.
At least the tar wasn't as bad..... |

Tore up the horse whiting Saturday around the 50. Had fun with the blues early on big topwaters, then it all shut off. One 3ft ray before noon. Only whiting after that. Oh, and some juvenile blacktips, and I mean juvenile. Sunday morning was skippy schools, so came back to civilization. _________________ Be sure to make good choices when you're being stupid. |

CS, I was referring to Saturday. Sorry for my lack of clarity. |

After catching that big whiting, I knew I should have brought some shrimp or fishbites. |

| I was at the mouth of the Colorado river this weekend. About 2 miles north we saw a couple people with what looked like small sharks on our way in. Our friends daughter caught a small whiting but that was all. Surf was super smooth and only saw one other guy catch a small jack or pompano. We had a bunch of birds come real close to the first bar and everyone out there was fishing hard for about 15 minutes or so and saw nothing. |
