Wow what a rough weekend if you wanted a spot on local piers.
So first stop was cosway pier where i picked up my live shrimp and got to fishing. Unfortunately I only had a few silver perch and no trouts and the pier was closely but surely becoming more and more crowded so I figured it was time to move.
Next was clems pier which is just down the road. There the current was ripping and the fish were not biting. Snagged up two dinker trouts before calling it. You could see the trouts but I am starting to learn that the trouts at Clems pier are much more skittish, squirrely, and picky. That is comparing them to trouts on the surf and other local piers just my opinion.
Off to bob-hall pier where reports of trouts and hard-heads are being caught but everyone and their mom was here. The swells were kinda choppy as well but there was just no room to fish. The first gut was catching all the fish and those people were not going to be leaving to soon. More than 60 plus people were on that pier and more were showing up. This is around 12 am mind you.
So Caldwell Pier and I have a real mixed history of getting skunked and getting my limit and thankfully I got my limit that night. Less than 15 people on the pier and more than enough fish to go around. I saw atleast 7 people limit out on nice 17 inch trouts for a good 3 hours from 1am to 4am. Massive schools of undersized reds were in the first gut and after the halfway point of the pier large schools of trouts were slapping the top. Trouts mixed in with atlantic bumpers and every so often you would see a random shark skulk near the outsides of the lights. There were swells but since it was so far down the pier their were not so bad. Free lining and light jig heads with shrimp or tandem speck rigs were the ticket. No point fishing the bottom cause nothing were there.
Interesting point I was using the solar lunar theory to test my fishing for this trip and it did say it would have a lot of fish activity. Not to mention there is a high pressure moment at the moment.

Great report, glad you found them. I tend to avoid the piers just because of all the people. _________________ Parttime fishing, parttime wishing...
