I had never been able to sight-cast redfish in shallow water with the fly rod before, so Monday I took the 8 weight along to see if we could make it happen. It took a while to get the hang of pushing the kayak in shallow water without spooking the fish, but after a few failed attempts I was able to make it happen on a couple of solid redfish. This was fun!

| Congrats professor. Nothing beats sight casting redfish in shallow water. It is quite the addiction. Sight casting big trout is awesome as well. |

nice fish and great report.
When we were out 3 weeks ago in the fog and mist, we found hunkered down reds - reports then were active fish in the afternoon sun, but it had also been winter cold before that. |

It's been nearly impossible to go beyond the breakers with the fog and strong waves. Glad you got out and got reds on the fly. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

Tyler I made one offshore trip in the fog, but even with gps it was creepy. That day the water temps were 61 and the jacks and spanish weren't even home yet. It will be on fire soon, but for now we just have to wait... I didn't make a video because I don't want new guys thinking it's easy in those conditions. Even the Coasties might not be able to locate you in the soup if you got into trouble. |

Rabbit AKA Paul Hare used to scare me when he'd report going out solo in the winter to that yellow rig near the 4x4 only sign and IN FOG! RIP Rabbit! _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

Ha!! Rabbit was fearless! Him and CCBobber and the rest are slaying them up there as we speak. Nothing but sunshine, calm seas, and hungry fish for those gentlemen.
Great report as always, Prof. _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |
