Hiya!,

A buddy of mine hit the sand today, Despite the rough conditions, he managed 14 nice pompano. He barely made it off the beach because the tide came in quickly and went to the dunes. He is someone I have been teaching the surf this year and is doing quite well for himself, even in the worse conditions.

FISH ON!!,

Been like that for some time, and a few different times this year. Can't remember a time where the tides didn't match the forecast as badly as this year???

But yea, them tides, "They will swallow you whole, Boy"!!!! Cool

Hiya!,

I think a lot of it is because how flat the beach is. It hasn't built up. Storm surges from tropical influence storms and wind driven tides been keeping the beach flat. Also, I feel the lack of sargassum plays a role. I remember making a comment to Billy about sargassum plays a positive role. It helps relieve fishing pressure and helps maintain the beach. He was amazed how I saw the positive effects while most look at it as a negative impact.

A very learned observation. Between the 5+ years of almost no 'brown floating plant material' washing in, in-mass, and the effects of Harvey last year pushing "feets" of sand offshore, you are correct in your assessment of the flat beach.

Hey CS, was this a test? It is feet of sand, not feets of sand. If you want to add an s to something, then use "foots" of sand... Very Happy

- Who disturbs our meditation, as a pebble disturbs the stillness of the pond?

HA!!! Actually, using in that form, within the quotes, is perfectly allowable. It was for comedic effect.

Not here comes the real test.

If multiple octopus = octopi, then shouldn't multiple walrus = walri???

But wait, there's more. SandFest conjures up real feats of sand.

And thanks to Becky for introducing Festivus to the debate of vus or vi Laughing

what's the term called if you hijack a hijacked thread and almost but not quite get it close back to the OP?

so, Dr. Tissot calls these "nuisance tides", and they have been on the increase over the past few years for sure...
