Curious if anyone here has had it. I've gone to two seminars, insurance covers most of it, my parents willing to help pay for most out-of-pocket costs. I am truly blessed, but I shouldn't be on 4+ medications at my age! I'm not young, but I'm not old. It truly will be worth it for my "next thirty years" (as the song says).

Who'd you go with? Bypass, Sleeve, Band, or another? How do you feel now? Was it worth it? Did you feel like me prior to it - in that part of you still thought you could lose it on your own? How did it affect your fishing life? Were you required to meet "diet" requirements prior to? - and if so, how did that go?

I've always felt that quitting drinking is hard. Quitting smoking is really hard (lucky for me, I don't have that vice). But quitting food is the toughest thing - because you can live without alcohol and tobacco, but not without food.

Thoughts? Input? Advice? I'm about a week from committing. I'm already changing my thought process and diet. But I know the road ahead is going to be tough.

I just had the sleeve procedure on Friday 8-3. I was on four medicines as well at 41. There are a lot of pre-op procedures, testing and of course dieting. I was able to lose 30# on the pre-op diet which is mostly low carbs for a month and then 2 protein shakes and one small meal for 2 weeks.

As far as the surgery goes, everything went smooth for me. The day of surgery is painful, but it has been a lot better the last couple days. My doc said to stay out of work for a week, even though I am mostly in an office.

It is way too early to tell about results. Everyone says it a tool to use along with making better nutritional choices and I will be on vitamins the rest of my life.

I am expecting to lose 150#.

Thanks, Clyde. I hope you see the results you are seeking. Not long after I posted this, I was dealt a major blow to my plans and found out my employer will be switching insurance companies at tne end of this fiscal year. So now I have to wait and see what their coverage levels and pre-op requirements are, etc. From what I can tell so far, everything is looking very similar to the one we have now, but lower deductibles!

On the flip side, I've got a few family and friends that are doing well and dropping some serious #s on various diets - the one I hear about most is Keto. It sounds very tough, but so is pre-op and post-op lifestyle changes on the surgery. So I'm looking at my backup plan now.
