So weekend I took to the jetties and the cosway to try my hand at the fishing and thankfully the fish didn't april fools me. Lots of trout action at the cosway pier after dark I had 3 nice keepers and of course 30 schoolies. I am gonna have to change my mono to braid pretty soon cause I had 3 very large mystery fish break my line while I was free lining live shrimp. I hate missing a monster so gonna have to step up the pounds. Here are some pics from cosway pier and yes the black drums are slowing down but still some big uglies cruising around. The weather was really nice and mild with good winds.
Fast Forward to next day
I woke up at the cosway only to learn that in the 3 hour snooze I took all the live bait had been sold . Had to grab some more at the bait bucket and headed to the packery channel to try my hand at some sheepshead. The weather was perfect and the sun way shining and the fish were biting. It was around 10ish and the packery was already started to get many people on it. I caught me my pb on sheepers which is now 19inchs. Unfortunately I had a tumble at the jetties and feel in the water slipping on rocks. Now I got a brace on my leg for the next 6 weeks so please everyone be careful and learn from my mistakes. Normally I fish and go on my trips solo but I might need the buddy system. I plan to buy clips for my shoes. The fishing was very solid if you were using crab and sea lice for the black drums and live/dead shrimp for the sheepheads.
Hope everyone had a great easter _________________ Hey that gull took your bait |

Your reports are great my friend. I laughed at how they sold outta bait on ya-those bay boys do not play when it is time to load the wagon with bait do they. You are gonna land some monsters off those rocks. Was just telling Tyler at Cos place the other day that if I was a real fisherman I would be right there on the jetty or the causeway after that rumored Goliathgrouper instead of way down island chasing after the Good Lord knows what. Thanks for sharing and keep having fun. _________________ Protect Padre at all costs for future generations to use and enjoy and never forget our freedoms aren't free.
