| I dont have waders or particularly want them so I took the winter off since I do all of my surf fihing in board shorts in the water standing on the bars. For those of you that also do this when do you start returning to the water? Are slot reds in the guts all year round? What fish are around in the spring that are usually not as plentiful in the summer and fall. I noticed alot of the board traffic dies down during the winter as well so I assume I am not the only one who waits for warmer times. |

I've hopped in the bay a few times waderless already. It was cold at first but wasn't too bad. I was in waist deep water or so. I'd imagine if you stayed in a while it might get cold on a cloudy day. That's just my .02. It's just getting warmer from here _________________ Great captains, the stuff of legend, are made not by what they have caught, but by what they have given back. |

Watch out for the holes and channel edges, or you might be singing like the Bee Gees for a little while! _________________ Dave

It does get your attention but its not too bad. My last trip of being waist / chest deep was early january, and my last two trips within the last three weeks, were the first of getting up to my waist out there - not too bad. _________________ Don - permanent prescription of salt water therapy. |

| I was in the surf chest deep without waders at PINS last week and it wasn't too bad. It wasn't warm and I wouldn't stay there for too long but it was ok to wade out a bit to get my cast farther out. |

Donny, I think it might have a lot to do with one's physiology. My feet get cold when the ambient temperature drops below 70. Other anatomical parts are WAY more sensitive!!!
Then there are those who can take the cold but not the heat. I'm MOST DEFINITELY not in that crowd! _________________ Dave
