I mostly fish topwaters and caught snook on 3 different occasions this year. It was at the same spot each time, my favorite spot. I've caught snook near the jetties and back bays and estuaries, but never on the flats.
Only one was very big at 26 inches, but the uniqueness is the real wow factor for me. Like catching a black drum on topwater. It doesn't happen often.
Just wondering if anyone else is catching any...?

I caught a 21 inch one at the jetties too. I think they were making a comeback before all this cold weather...

I caught 2 on back to back casts at packery in October. Finger mullet under a popping cork right up against the rocks. I make it down there about once a month and didn't catch any snook last year until the October trip.

They are very susceptible to die offs during cold snaps.

Some think the Hurricanes displaced them or shook up their distribution. Whichever it was cool to see them though I didn't get to partake in any catching!

My Brother and I caught 4 at Packery over the Labor Day weekend, then I caught two more a week or two after Harvey.
We got several more at the Fish Pass jetties. My daughter was down from Houston for that wonderful weather we had at Thanksgiving and she caught two and I caught one.
Twitch baits, jerk baits, spoons, vibe baits, plastics, and my daughter caught hers on finger mullet.
Over a dozen this year.
