Well the weather doesn't get much better than the past few days. I wish the fish would've gotten that memo. Got on the beach at about noon on Thursday and cruised down to the jetties.
Other than a few fat trout as the sun set, the fishing was pretty slow. Loaded up and camped in the 50s.
Fished the jetties all day Friday with little to show for it. The sharks were feeling frisky, though. They were breaching all day a few hundred yards out. Again, camped in the 50s Friday night.
Woke up Saturday and decided to slow cruise it off the beach and fish. Rain minnows were abundant with Spanish Mackerel and Ladyfish gorging themselves on them. The ladys saved the day as far as action goes. Tends to be the case for fly fishers. I passed the good structure earlier in the day...should've spent more time there. Man...the layout of the beach has really changed down south.
Also...that damn moon!!! Hard to sleep when you can't turn the lights off lol
Probably the last trip for me this year. With the front eagerly approaching on Tuesday, it'll drop the water temps enough to run off what I'm interested in. Should set the scene for the Sandbars though...
No fish picture worthy....the sun rises on the other hand...

Thanks for the post - was looking forward to a weekend in generally the same areas , but a nasty cold kick my butt. I've been watching the skies here from the house thinking how many fish I would have put in the fridge - but like Scarlett said, "Tomorrows another day!". _________________ Don - permanent prescription of salt water therapy. |

Nice photos.
Sumo rod mounts?
Do the rods ride at traveling speed as shown? |

Yes...the suction cup ones.

Man, I'll be honest with you. They may run at highway speeds but it would break my heart to see thousands of dollars worth of gear slide off the hood. I cringe just thinking about it.
However, they're quite handy just slow cruising the beach looking for fish baja-style.

Nice post!
You might want to consider a rest for your rods on the leading edge of your roof rack to cushion and protect your rod investment.
Just a thought. |

2017 was a great year of posting, and pictures, for you. Look forward to another year of your quality reports in 2018. May the fish always be hungry. _________________ "I do hunt and I do fish and I do not apologize to anyone that I hunt and fish." - Norman Schwarzkopf |

| Jeff, from what I can tell about your rack on top, I like the way it mounts and the jack mount on the rear of it. Would you mind sharing the manufacturer's name? |

I've gone over 70 mph with 3 rods on my suction cup sumos and am yet to have a problem. I always clean off the area of my hood and windshield where they mount real good though right before I put them on.
Thanks for the report BTW!!! _________________ "I never had an Easter, but I've always had a bunch of speakers" - Beardo |
