Fished the jetty from 9am to 1pm. Water conditions were gorgeous. Very light wind, but a bit hot. I was targeting mangrove snapper with live small finger mullet, and shrimp. I had no luck with the mangrove snapper, but there were a few nice ones caught by a couple of others. I managed to catch three undersized reds, all around 15", one on shrimp and the other two on the finger mullet.
As for what folks were catching that I noticed: one fellow at the end hooked a cobia that was easily 40" plus on a light low profile baitcaster rig. He fought it for over an hour before it broke off near the rocks. A couple of good sized sting rays were caught, a few trout, and a big oversized redfish. I heard from another fellow that several nice redfish were caught earlier before I arrived. |
