I knew the reports were for some heavy winds this weekend but I need to be on the water so I headed down to PINS on Friday. Got a later start than planned and didn't hit the beach until about 9:00 PM so I went about 6 miles down, set up the grill, had dinner and went to bed.

Was up with the sunrise Sat morning and it wasn't quite as windy as it was Friday night, but still blowing. Started out looking for some trout but couldn't find any so got the surf rods out and started casting. Current was strong and it was tough to keep bait out. I was catching a ton of whiting for most of the day but not much else until late afternoon when I decided to try some sand flea Fishbites I had in my bag. Using the Fishbites I brought in about half a dozen small pompano.

After catching the pompano I called it a day, ate, and drank a few beers. The wind really kicked up Saturday night. When I woke up Sunday morning it looked like it had snowed and everything was covered in sand. Too windy to fish so I packed up and headed north to Dallas.

Not the best fishing but I don't care I was fishing and I was on the beach. Hope to make it back in a few weeks.

Hats off to you for braving the wind. You were right about Sunday morning. Was at Zahn Rd for sunrise and it was piles of blowing sand as far as the eyes could see. And the current was RIPPING, so the fact that you rustled up a few fish is lagniappe.
Safe travels all the way back to Dallas. Shocked
