Thanks Tyler, the story and photo can wait. The fish (cpr'd) was quite impressive being 46.5" and caught on a fly rod and reel during very windy conditions in Baffin. _________________ HooYah!

Thanks for posting the photo Tyler! The fisherman who caught this brute is Earl Sebring on the right in the photo. Was throwing his standard go-to clouser and the fish weight was estimated at 45-50 lbs before release. After a long fight and realizing that his small collapsible fly net was WAY too small and flimsy, he managed to lock his legs around the fish and then knelt to trap it in knee deep water. All of his buddies were eating and drinking on the boat until the high winds carried his yells for help to the boat and they came to assist him. There's a hilarious cell phone video one of them shot as they approached and realized the situation Earl was in. There are more photos but this one will do. I'm impressed! _________________ HooYah!

Awesome fish no matter what kind of tackle you using, but on the Fly Rod it's amazing

Heck of a red! Man, you know that was an epic battle. And you can just picture him hollering while his buds are over lounging around, "Hey, where's Earl ?".

Wow, an amazing story! I can't help, but wonder what weight rod he was using. My guess is an eight weight, and if so, his catch is even more impressive! He might have even set some kind of record?

I got the details from Earl Below
Fly rod was a T3 Orvis eight weight.(9 foot). Tapered 10 lb leader with 12# fluorocarbon tippet/shock leader. Fly was chartreuse and white clouser with lead/red eyes, size 8 I believe tied by Mike Miller (of Midland).
46.5 inches and 41 lbs.
I was fishing with a bunch of friends from Tyler, and was being guided by Sutton Schoonover out of Rivera.
Sorry I can't do anything with the video Earl sent it is an MOV file and I had to delete quick time from my computer for work.
I was able to post it on Facebook on the corpusfishing.com page

Great looking fish, but by his friend holding it by the gills it's my understanding the fish will probably die. |

Heck of a fish on the fly! Congrats. Might need a bigger net if you're gonna catch reds like that!
