Headed down Friday afternoon from 3 hours east.
Finally hit beach around 11pm. Water still a little high bit awesome driving conditions.

I can't wait till they repair the road back there. With the rain and high tides left it in 4 low and needed it. Just took it easy, to many people tearing it up trying to get through so be careful.

6 keeper drum( several <15" releases)
Several rat reds and trout.
But did manage to get a 27" trout on a bass assassin under a small cork.

Now got to figure out how to add a pic since picasa is no longer, guys need to set up my Google crud.

Thanks for the report. Good stuff back there. Will they repair the roads back there? Or is it pretty laissez-faire for that sort of thing? .....you know what? Ima call em. dis bullchit.

Got a hold of someone at the NPS...they said that maintenance is aware of the issue and they do plan on grading the roads sometime before the end of the year. Probably after the majority of the reds clear the flats.

I noticed 2 weeks ago when I was there they had installed a cable gate on the top of the pass. I hope they don't plan on closing the pass at different times. Maybe it will keep people out while they are working on the road.

I just hope people will start respecting the pass. The picnic tables have been used as firewood for bonfires and taken apart to unstuck vehicles. I have personally witnessed "vehicle clubs" of certain types spinning their tires on the road in 2wd in the mud holes and then crawling out in 4x4 on purpose. Doing "doughnuts" next to the water. Videoing each other flying through the pass because they think it's cool to tear up the pass and make 2 foot deep ruts.

I would hate to see such an amazing place/fishing Hotspot to close because of the actions of a few jackasses.

Sorry for the rant

Maybe they would put up a camera to see who and what.
But yeah, it is stupid for some of the poo poo they do, goes we can take pics and turn it in. Cameras at entrance have you coming and going. Being a federal park, I see no reason why the big offenders could not be band or prosecuted.
