| What are some names of the old roads that are not used anymore or even some that are used today even? We are trying to think of some old names to name the isles in our antique store. Any cool old references would work. |

Up River Road was Shell Road from the Navigation lift bridge out to what was then called the North Pole where my grand father lived when I was young. That was before I-37 was built.......cC
Also Leopard was Highway 9 which ran all the way from in Corpus Christi till it ran into I am pretty sure it was 281, by the Pick A Rib truck stop up by George West....... |

| A bit off topic but remember a chain of islands called the Klondikes? I suppose they are still there, don't fish Aransas Bay much anymore. They were what I believe were and old railroad line from Aransas Pass to St. Joe. Cattle related I think. |

I have good memories of cruising Highway 9 back and forth between Callicoate Rd and Rand Morgan Rd back in the early seventies, with everyone doing likewise and communicating on their CB radios, and drag racing their muscle cars. Fun times. |

I spent my childhood in the mud flats next to the river. Between Thrill Hill and the first trestle. A lot of time walking the tracks from the first trestle to the third trestle, hunting and catching redfish out of the slews. Kids now a days don't get to have any fun. |
