Hey guys! Long time Texas FIshing FOrum member, but just joined here. Family is headed to Port Aransas this Sunday through Friday for some R&R.....which means fishing! Wife said she wants me to not take too much fishing gear lol.
Anyway, my son is still nursing a broken leg. He's 12 and is mostly healed and can walk with a brace but prob can't wade with me. I was thinking of hitting the Packery Flats to wade fish for Specs, but wanted to get your thoughts. Would he be able to fish there without wading? Would you suggest an alternate place where I can wade but he can fish from shore?
If that doesn't seem like a reasonable option then should we just fish from a jetty with a lemon rig or whatever? Thanks very much in advance. It doesn't have to be specs by the way. The two boys would be happy catching anything.
We're staying in a little condo just south of packery channel. Thanks again![/img]

Welcome! I think I might try Packery Park. It is on the right before you get to the Causeway if you are headed into Corpus Christi from the island. The footing along there is pretty good and I think you have a shot at black drum and reds there too.

Thank you Tyler. You think my son/s can cast from the shore from there? I've got quite a few popping corks setup as our "go to" setup. Gulp shrimp and plan on catching live bait with the casting net.
