Got a couple questions and need advice. I have 2013 F-250 that I started running down the beach last summer trying to learn shark fishing. I always washed the truck down, left a sprinkler under it to help clean. Well it looks like we are going to get serious about the PINS fishing trips again and spend more time on the beach.
Whats the best way to undercoat it? Its already been exposed, so would shooting a sealer on it cap the rust and cause it to rust more and get bad before its seen?
What about linseed oil? I have used it when capping square tube etc. Pour some in the tube, then weld it shut. Keeps it from rusting from the inside out. I know someone uses it on their beach rigs but I cannot recall who it was??
How do you apply it to the underside of the truck? Does it work? How often to reapply?
Thank you |

I believe osoyakman had a post about this. Takes it to a county road a sprays the undercarriage.
I know when I got my truck under coated they did an acid wash first then applied.
Good luck. _________________ Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience. |

Get a pump sprayer and a gal of boiled linseed oil and some turpentine. Thin the oil just until it sprays decently. Put a good coat on everything under your truck, obviously avoid your exhaust, the braking surface of your rotors, and your radiator. Put a heavy amount inside the channels of your frame and any tubing running across the frame. Do this someplace where you don't care about staining the ground with oil.
Oh and clean out your sprayer afterwards otherwise it will end up useless. |

Dubdee, that's what I was looking for. I have read where the Linseed oil will dry with a hard surface...does it?
How often do you recoat it? |

Yes it works sort of like a varnish after a while. Just don't spray the parts that get hot. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

I know a coup-le of guys who have used it on their vehicles for shark fishing and it has held up very well. I recently used something called Fluid Film to undercoat my sideXside for the beach. So far it has worked great and definitely prevented it from rusting. You can now get it at Lowes.
