Had a buddy from my home town of Wichita Falls TX come down this weekend to catch up and get in two full days of fishing. We have the island across from Charlies leased with a small shack with generator. So Sat am we hauled food and gear to cabin and hit the water. Boats everywhere and with a late start first three spots we went were already being fished. After bouncing around and having only one trout and one red we finally got a few more in Pringle lake. Incoming tides were very strong from early afternoon through early evening. Total for day was very disappointing but we had Sunday to look forward to some different spots.

Sunday am fog was terrible so we eased to San Antonio bay to try some of the reefs. First stop was full of small trout. Had two shy of our limit and I assumed the tide would start moving so I wanted to hit a back lake. We fished the front gut with no bites and as we turned to curve near the end of channel we struck gold. We both hooked up for our two keepers we needed and they were both 19". Then we proceeded to catch 12 more in 17-20" range and as we moved to end we managed 8 more all smaller 15-16 1/2" range. I really wanted to find him some red fish so we ditched the soft plastics and on with the shrimp. We hit a few back lakes and managed to only catch 3 more slot trout one going 22" north winds picked up and fish went to hibernation. Called it a day(12 hours of wade fishing and me wading wet, I was done)
Stopped at Charlies to clean fish and capture an awesome sunset.
Always awesome to have a friend travel down and be able to put them on fish and show them why I am hooked on saltwater fishing. Did not miss a beat after not seeing my buddy for two years. Talked about booking an elk hunt or Alaskan salmon fishing trip in the future.
