Howdy fellow fish hunters, hope everyone is doing well..let me start by saying it's gonna be hard to sum it up in one post all that has transpired over the last several weeks but overall Nueces has really turned on to say the least. I would also like to say even though I have been fishing this bay since I was 6 with my uncle, I have become very in tune with the back country of this unique habitat more so now than ever now that I have a sled aka the fish getter that can take me just about anywhere I desire.

Anyways down to the good stuff...

So this past Sunday after we fished the Rudy's Redfish Rivalry we decided to do some serious exploring and fishing of course and just before calling it a day my buddy's topwater gets hammered...

While we were looking around for more I couldn't help but notice how awesome it looked as the sun was setting and well, hope enjoy the view too.

I know right, couldn't help but capture the moment...

So guess what.. we did it again Monday morning, but this time his wife was off so the 3 of us decided to yak it up. So off we go down the Nueces River through the fog, surrounded by yaks & paddles, under the rail road trestle.. with only inches to spare due to the high water level and out into the infamous Nueces Bay once again with high hopes. You might be wondering how we can roll with 3 yaks.. well you could actually fit more if you wanted, you just couldn't walk around of course.

Even though the Shoalwater Cat performs as well as it does in both shallow & chop, there's just something about the stealth of a kayak that allows you to get right up close to the prize especially in the small canals of Nueces.

After several wading trips with just the boat we decided to not only extend our striking distance but have the ability to cover more water vs wading.

So we finally get to our starting spot and.. the water was alive, literally there were blow ups all around & we knew it was going to be one of those days. A few casts later I hear my buddy hollar... its a big trout, and I was like whatever even though we've been getting some 20+ trout every time we go, my money was on it being a redfish. After several minutes of tug o war and not getting to see anything except his rod bent.. we started to go with its gotta be a red... right?

WRONG

The End..

Just kidding but seriously does the rest of the day really matter?

I don't believe you saying it's The End. You'll be back there fishing again Laughing

The back bay is a beauty. It's a love it or hate it kind of place.

I agree the shoal water cat is great. I had the 19' and would put 2 yaks on it and go as far as we could and then keep going with the yaks.

Nice trout!
