I have never fished in the ski canals. Not looking for any secret spots or anything, just curious if it is worth my time to go in there and look. I'm always looking to add spots to my list, just a little guidance would be great!

Weather is finally here, time to fish hard without freezing our tails off!

Try it early in the morning before the crowds arrive.

I like fishing there in the winter. No boats and skiers

The whole canal system can be good in the winter. Agree that there are other, much safer areas, during this time.

If you're in a boat and have a trolling motor, go at night and fish the lights.

Don't linger too long in any one spot, be respectful.

Otherwise, I wouldn't mess with it unless the winter like others have said.

you'd do way better fishing the canals where all the houses are. under docks, corners, etc. There can be some good fishing in the winter time, and also periodically through the year when drum get stacked up in there.

Thanks everyone! I was referring to the canal on the island. I had heard it was good in winter but have never fished it so was curious. I have yet to catch anything out of my canal at my place, may give it a try this weekend again.

It has not been that great this past winter compared with the past. I think it is because it has just not been cold enough to really pack them in there.
