Back at it again today. Got to the sand amid heavy downpours with a tankfull of live mullet.
Torrential. Not good for this latest bloom of the red tide.
There were dead fish within the first mile or two, and the aerosols were bad enough that I had to roll the windows up.
The morning was pretty, but the bite was pretty much nonexistent and the aerosols continued to the 25 at least, which was as far as I went.
And it was HOT in that morning sun while drinking my coffee.
One bluefish, a whiting or two, some hardheads, and one skipjack.
Fished cut bait of course, but the live mullet sat virtually untouched at over 20 different locations from 630am until about 11am.
The one lone bluefish.
Recognize this?
Pelican tracks. Webbed feet. Beautiful, these birds. And he left behind a feather.
That's it for now. I got ran off the beach by the aerosols so that was that. It's moved south during the night, now how far it goes is anybody's guess. Let's hope for the best. The one thing that can be said...is that this event is QUITE early in the year yet to be occurring....and that it's bad enough that the beach cleared out rather quickly. Once folks got on the sand, they'd ask me if it was any better south, and I'd give em a report, and they'd leave. At this point, I just don't know... _________________ Protect Padre at all costs for future generations to use and enjoy and never forget our freedoms aren't free.

I really appreciate these reports. I'm not sure if you have the time to fish everyday, but it's great logging in & seeing the information and pictures you provide.
Thank you Mr. Towboat Trash |

| This is my favorite time of year to fish the surf. Hope this thing goes away quick. if it stays too long it will affect the bull red fish run. |
