It's really sad. Drove from Whitecap south to the north sticks [I had the windows closed and the AC set on recirculate]. .....dead fish the whole way, and the further south, the worse the aerosol effects.. ..even with the windows closed...burning/watering eyes and coughing. From Whitecap to the bowl, there was sargassum mixed with the dead fish, but didn't see any newly dead fish washing in. South of the bowl, very little sargassum, but fresh dead fish washing in and worse aerosols....in some places there seemed to be slight red tinge to the surf.

Whitecap to just past Bob Hall I saw dead: big reds, one BIG trout, several snook, lots and lots of mullet and small bait fish, and lots of eels. I didn't see any flounder and very few catfish. I did see some fish I didn't recognize. In the section by Whitecap, I did get out of the car and walk for a very little while; further south, I didn't leave the car, only rolled the windows down a few time to take pictures.

Further south there seemed to be mostly mullet and bait fish and eels... Of course, further south it was so bad I couldn't/didn't get out of the car, so harder to tell.

Thank you for posting the pictures for me. They show the carnage from Whitecap south towards the north sticks. The further south, the less weed and the more fish newly dead along the surf line.

Just as I was getting ready to leave the beach at the north sticks, a car pulled up, rolled down the window and asked: "Is there any stretch of beach where there aren't dead fish?" Obviously, they knew nothing about the red tide event.

Then, once I got back on Park Road 22, there were road work signs...and three cars stopped in front of me. There is a stretch of a couuple of miles reduced to one lane as they resurface the road. So, long wait, then a convoy led by a pickup comes thru leading 2-3 cars, turns around, and then leads us south. I really felt sorry for those workers having to breath in the red tide while working in the sun.

Texas Parks and Wildlife posted today on their Facebook page that they have tested the water down to the 10 mile marker on PINS and report moderate consintration of red tide. If anyone decides to check out the beach beyond the 10mm, please post a report on the surf conditions. Had a fishing trip planned starting next Friday. Was really looking forward to spending some time down ther but if it's bad, we will head north. Hope it moves out sooner than later.

Thanks for the report. So sad seeing the pictures of the dead fish. Hopefully this clears soon.

I went up to the Boat Hole flats around the power lines this morning and there were lots of dead mullet floating in the area. No reds to be seen so I headed south and found some decent trout south of the JFK. Seems the red tide is coming in through Packery and effecting that area.

Where's HungerBuster at!? The bull reds are thick in the surf. Get that gas mask and go fish! Free cut bait littered all over the beaches..

It seemed worse Wednesday at the 15 than farther north on pins, and continued farther south. 35ish south was clear on Tuesday buy May have changed by now.
